From First Dig to Final Loam, a Lakefront Build in Alton Bay
This lot sat right on the water in Alton Bay, open ground above the lake with room for a custom home. The job called for the full excavation, the septic system, the utility work and a wraparound driveway.
The driveway was cut into the slope, and the crew backfilled inside the new foundation walls once they were up. The last loads of loam went down when the house was finished, and the home now sits right on the shore.

2. Check when the septic tank was last pumped. We recommend pumping a typical household tank every three to five years.
3. Watch the water pressure and the yard. A drop in water pressure, or water pooling on the ground between the street and the house, can point to a leak in the service line.
4. Book septic and site work while the ground is open, when it digs easily and the yard is quick to put back.
Planning a foundation, an addition or a new line next year? Ask how rock would be handled on your lot when you get the estimate, so there are no surprises once the digging starts.
